There a 2 Types of Direct Print - Digital and Heat Press Vinyl A. Digitally Printed - Water Based ink on 100% Cotton Only What is Digital Print? Basically it’s a printer similar to your home printer that can print an actual jpg/png/tif image on to your garment. At Minnesota T’s we only digitally print on white 100% cotton garments. All other colored garments are considered special order and will require additional prep, for that reason we will only print at quantities of 24 or more. Please call for a quote 218-829-0029 Why do the garments have to be Cotton? Digital print ink is water based and attaches itself to the cotton fibers in the garments. Polyester and many other fabrics retard water and liquids and won’t properly accept the ink yet hold the color wash after wash. Digital vs Screen Print? Screen printing your garments is definitely the better route, the ink is stronger, pushed into the fabric and heat secured, as well lasting for many many washes. Digital prints are lightly applied, heat pressed in but will not with stand wash after wash. However if you have an image with multiple colors and only a few to print, it’s not economically feasible to screen them, therefore digital prints are and alternative print process. Many digital prints consist of 20-80 colors and hues. Screen prints are 1 - 5 most of the time 3 or less. See Screen Printing for more info on the process of screening.
B. Heat Pressed Vinyl Prints What is a Vinyl Print? Vinyl is generally used for sports apparel. You’ll see vinyl names and numbers on ball shirts, jerseys etc. The only Images used for vinyl are vector files, which are solid black with little to no detail. Generally Minnesota T’s does not vinyl images. If you want a particular image in vinyl, please call for a quote 21-829-0029.
Vinyl is cut on individuality, maybe a name, a number etc. Allow an entire team or teams to be customized with sponsor logos to. Many times a name is applied to the sleeve or the hood of a sweatshirt. Vinyl appliqués are an ideal and very inexpensive way of customizing a single garment. Most names at 1/2-2” tall by 3-10” long are priced at 6.00. Numbers at 8” tall are 5.00.
